Tides – Resurface

January 24th, 2012

After thought to be out of print for a couple of years now I recently uncovered two boxes of Tides‘ debut full length Resurface. The album, which to this day still stands as one of our best sellers, was met with wildly positive reviews upon it’s release and It’s exciting to have it back in stock.

“Describing an album like Resurface in words is hard. Albums like this need to be heard and felt, not littered with adjectives and prose. However, I will say the forty plus minute trip is an exceptional piece of elegant art that easily measures up to the genres big names and deserves your undivided active listening skills.” – Metalreview.com

“a tempered determination not uncommon to the more pensive tendencies of Isis or Pelican and manage to unfurl moments that bring recent Boris material, along with some Mogwai and even Anodyne…great fucking songwriting” – Metal Maniacs

Resurface can be picked up, along side all of our other available releases, right here on the webstore.

The Proselyte join TDB / 12″ out Oct

September 2nd, 2011

Playing around the Boston area for five years, The Proselyte have recently managed an enormous sonic overhaul for an upcoming TDB Records release. The band’s sound has truly come into their own, offering riffy swagger, bomb-string heaviness and massive multi-layered vocal harmonies on the new LP. It’s almost like Alice in Chains discovering the first two Baroness EP’s, or maybe the Melvins covering the Beach Boys. They somehow manage to hit fresh, uncharted territory using familiar hallmarks of stoner metal, Seattle grunge and modern melodicism. The recording is warm, lush and as thunderous as the guitars will allow, but the crushing moments are woven through harmonious sun soaked vocal passages and used as a release, not a crutch. This could easily be the first sludge metal soundtrack for hitting the beach.

Entitled “Sunshine”, Proselyte’s full length will be out Vinyl and Digital formats in October.

“Sunshine” was recorded at New Alliance in Cambridge, MA by drummer/vocalist, Alec Rodriguez and the band features guitarist/vocalist Nicholas Wolf from Phantom Glue. The line up is rounded out by Bradford J. Macomber on Bass and Mitchell C. Belch on Guitar/vocals.

Update: Phantom Glue and Choke up OUT NOW, Ramming Speed US/Euro tours

August 20th, 2010

Phantom Glue – s/t CD, 12″ OUT NOW

What sort of beast has 128 teeth, 40 fingers and 3 tube heads? Damn right, the slab of heavy-as-shit stoner metal known as Phantom Glue’s self titled LP is finally available on both digipack CD and TWO colors of thick vinyl (Red with a white splatter and green with a white splatter)! Guitar player Matt Oates is currently finishing up art for the insert and as soon as that’s ready, all pre-orders begin shipping. All orders that come through the TDB store will include a free color poster, so party with us and have no regrets. If you don’t know already, this was recorded by the masterful Kurt Ballou and he did an incredible job capturing the tooth rattling intensity laid down by this co-ed troupe of Bostonians.

Ramming Speed
– Fests, US Fall tour, Euro winter w/ MUNICIPAL WASTE / SAVIORS, Limited T-shirt Package

For those that might not have heard, we (Ramming Speed) were robbed in Italy in July and lost quite a bit of money (among other things). There is a “benefit” package available that will include a limited t-shirt, our new tape, and other garbage we can whip together. For more information regarding our limited edition merchandise in exchange for helping us out of crushing debt, click here: http://www.tdbrecords.com/rammingspeed/?page_id=49

That aside, we just got home a little over a week ago from Europe and for the most part it was a total success. The shows were fantastic and included everything from sweaty basements to open air festivals.

Moving on, we have two fests coming up in the states. This Sunday August 22nd is the Chronic Youth 1st Anniversary Party with Saviours, Priestess and many many more. For info on that check out www.Chronicyouth.com. We are also excited to announce that we’ll be touring the US this fall in order to make it out to the first ever Tank Crimes Brain Squeeze with Municipal Waste, Ghoul, Toxic Holocaust, Vitamin X, ANS, Votsek, Cannabis Corpse and others! That tour is going to be around three weeks and a tentative routing will be posted soon. After that we’re back to Europe in December with Municipal Waste and Saviours for two to three weeks of long hair celebration and punished livers. The first round of dates have been announced for that tour here: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=144539

Choke Up – s/t CD EP OUT NOW

The road couldn’t harden these cuties and now that they’ve finished up their first full US tour with friends The Effort. We are proud to announce the official release of Choke Up‘s self titled CD EP. Seven tracks of mature, epic and emotive hardcore, the disc drips with sincerity. Recommend for fans of Against Me, Small Brown Bike and sweaty nights with good friends in crowded basements. This will go on sale next week on the TDB web store and is available at the bands upcoming shows.

Furnace, Phantom Glue, Choke up join TDB RECORDS

February 4th, 2010

TDB Records welcome Furnace, Phantom Glue, Choke Up to the family

For the last few years the TDB roster has been branching out far from our Boston locale, welcoming California’s Litany For the Whale, Germany’s Perth Express, and the Texans in Die Young. As wonderful as it’s been spreading our wings to work with bands further and further from our home, I am very proud to announce that we are finally returning to the city that got us started. Sometimes what you’re looking for is right under your nose and in the last month or so we’ve confirmed releases for three incredibly talented local bands.

First up are the boys and girl of Phantom Glue. Pilfering the heavy from seminal acts like Electric Wizard and High on fire, and the wailing guitars of Pentagram, these four shacked up with Kurt Ballou (Converge, Doomriders, Torche etc.) at Godcity last year to record a colossal debut full length. With mastering by Nick Z (New Alliance East) and hand painted artwork by artist and guitar player Matt Oates, this self titled record is scheduled for an April release. Those in the New England area can catch the band opening for Coalesce and Harvey Milk in March.

Our second release on its way to the plant will be the debut EP by Boston’s Choke Up. A surprisingly mature, epic, and emotive hardcore recording, this EP will strike a chord with fans of Against Me, Small Brown Bike and At The Drive In. These four high school friends from just north of Boston hit the studio in late in ’09 at Andrews Lane Recording (Maintain, The Effort). The organic recording lends the instruments a lush and thick sound, though the songs are played with a true sense of urgency lost in much of the melodic hardcore scene. Look for a March release date on CD and April for digital.

Heading into the studio in mid-February as the third in the triumvirate of Boston brutality, are the down-tuned chaotic hardcore trio Furnace. Anyone bummed that Ed Gein dropped off the map a few years ago or who wishes Converge could still play basement shows will have a permanent boner for these Boston via New Hampshire transplants. Crunched into two minute songs are technically adept, catchy and chaotic riffs surrounded by blistering drums and thick distorted bass. Furnace will sit you down and make you headbang, smoke weed and consider killing everyone around you, all with a smile on their bearded faces.

All three releases will be available on CD and at all major digital distributors with special t-shirt/poster packages available on the TDB webstore for those who order early on. Check www.TDBRecords.com for
updates as they unfold.

LITANY FOR THE WHALE Join TDB Roster

May 23rd, 2009

TDB Records is excited to announce the newest member of the family, Santa Rosa California’s litany for the whale. Our first brethren from the west coast, Litany are a mixed bag of dark charging hardcore, chaotic grit and haunting atmospherics. Exploring the seedy underbelly of raw punk and noisy “post rock” the four piece hit with a wall of sound that smells of booze and tastes of blood. The recording of their debut album “Dolores” was done at the famous Prairie Sun Studios (The Melvins) with mastering by Carl Saff. The artwork was handled by a friend of the band, Chris Taylor (Darkest Hour, Pig Destroyer, Pg 99). Dolores will be released this summer on TDB Records (CD and Digital) and vinyl will be split by MolSook Records and The Perpetual Motion Machine. The band will be hitting the road upon the debut’s release, look out for tour dates soon.

New Site

March 30th, 2009

I’ve been trying to get a new website together for a long time. Tired of bugging local web designers and running low on money to even pay them, I decided to do it on my own using WordPress.  It looks slick, it’s easy to update and best of all, I didn’t have to write any html. I think I’m in love.

Please please let me know if you find anything that doesn’t work right. Just as important, leave a comment and let me know if there’s anything that you’d like to see on here. Interviews with the bands done by fans? Video updates from bands? Pictures of my roommates sleeping naked? Let me know what you want to see and I’ll get on it. This is the dawn of a new age. A shiny new age of me paying more attention to details. Step two is getting your orders out on time, haha..ha….ha..

Anyway, let me know what you think,
-Jonah
