Furnace – CD (Click to Buy)
Heading into the studio in mid-February are the down-tuned chaotic hardcore trio Furnace. Anyone bummed that Ed Gein dropped off the map a few years ago or who wishes Converge could still play basement shows will have a permanent boner for these Boston via New Hampshire transplants. Crunched into two minute songs are technically adept, catchy and chaotic riffs surrounded by blistering drums and thick distorted bass. Furnace will sit you down and make you headbang, smoke weed and consider killing everyone around you, all with a smile on their bearded faces.
Members: Derrick, Sean, Darryl
We had our first practice new years day 2006. The 3 of us decided to start a band based on getting together, getting high, and creating downtuned heavy music. Those were the only guidelines. We all enjoy different types of metal, punk, hardcore, other stuff ETC but didn’t want to start the band trying to fit a specific sound. No one came to the first practice with a single riff or note. The name of the band was thought of as we were sitting next to a water heater mistaken by us for a furnace. And so it began…
I’m not speaking specifically for the minds of the other 2, but I know our “goal” as a band and for ourselves is to create music that is all things fast, slow, technical, and heavy. Music is therapeutic, the meaning of life, and the sweet mother of the earth and we shant disrespect it with shitty riffs, eye shadow, and cookie cutter songwriting.
